CROSS-CULTURAL CONCERT
We are delighted to welcome the aspiring Austrian singer/songwriter Liz Metta for a concert at the Austrian Cultural Forum in Cairo. As part of her musical journey in Egypt, Liz Metta will compose a song together with the Egyptian musician BalQeis. Connected by the art of looping, the two artists will merge their different musical backgrounds, ranging from western dream pop to indie soul and electro-oriental oud music, to create a song especially for this occasion. Join us for a unique opportunity to hear and see the result of Liz Metta and BalQeis’ joint creative process in an intimate living room atmosphere at the Cultural Forum!

Liz Metta is a singer-songwriter based in Vienna, Austria. For her, music plays an essential role in finding her own identity. Inviting you to a daydream, her music blends stylistic elements of alternative rock, dream pop, indie soul, and modern psychedelia. She has been performing under her stage name Liz Metta since 2020 at various festivals, including Popfest Vienna, Poolbar Festival Feldkirch and Waves Vienna. Her debut album ‘Introspection’ was released in October 2023.

BalQeis is an Egyptian live looping artist and oud player specialized in the “Electro Oriental” genre. Her musical training spans both classical Western and Oriental music, providing a diverse musical foundation. BalQeis musical journey goes beyond “Electro Oriental” and encompasses a wide range of genres, creating a fusion of ethnic sounds. Her music is often described as ethnic, futuristic, and spacey, transporting listeners to other dimensions.
