هالة صارت أم لتوها، وتعاني مع الضغوط التي تحتمها عليها كونها أم، باﻹضافة إلى اعتلال صحتها العقلية، وحزنها على فراق والدها، وسجن زوجها والذي تحاول إخراجه من السجن، وفي يوم تعثر على رسالة تلقي الضوء على منظور جديد ﻷفكارها.

Hala has been living with fear of abandonment since her father passed away when she was 18. She suffers post-natal depression and tries to commit suicide several times but she never goes all the way, she always leaves a little room for someone to rescue her.
Now her loving husband, who always and rescued her from her suicidal thoughts, is facing a trial for a simple mistake at work. Hala is left alone with her depression, her thoughts and a 6-month-old daughter. Despite her mental fragility, she needs to find a way to change in order to carry out her duties as a mother and a good wife to her jailed husband. The main difficulty is how to face herself, her fears and her depression now that she has no one to lean on and no moral support, and at the same time, face the reality she lives in that includes her husband and daughter.

Der Projektor takes place every second Wednesday of the month and showcases highlights from the independent Egyptian film scene, offering audiences a chance to discuss the films with their creators. This year’s selection is curated by Egyptian director and screenwriter Yasser Naeim.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director, Hisham Saqr, in Arabic, with the possibility of translating to English. The discussion will be moderated by director and screenwriter Yasser Naeim
