During an argument with his wife Burcu, Oray pronounces the Islamic divorce formula “talaq”. The imam informs him of the consequences: Oray must separate from Burcu for three months. Oray uses the break in their relationship to make a fresh start and moves to Cologne. In an almost documentary style, the director tells the story of how an individual works his way through the complex system of a religion and seeks a way out of the conflict between his belief in love and his love of faith.

A haunted woman named Ida journeys from Germany to Jordan, to an eerie and deserted port town on the Red Sea where her partner, Ismail, recently died. Wandering through desolate bars, hotels, and offices, Ida attempts to feel Ismail’s presence one last time and to say goodbye.

The film chronicles the journey of a Yemeni musician in Aden, striving to conduct a musical event despite the prevailing conflict and insecurity in the country. We witness the artist’s (Ameer) keen determination to produce art, even with the most limited means, amidst the hardships inflicted by war and its consequences.
Ezzat Shadad is a filmmaker, visual artist, and producer from Aden, Yemen. He directed his first musical documentary, “Dreaming Chord,” in 2021. He served as the first assistant director for the film “The Burdened,” the first Yemeni feature film to win at the Berlin Film Festival and represent Yemen at the 96th Academy Awards. In 2022, Ezzat received the Best Art Work award in Yemen for his project “About Cinema and Our Emotions” in the Fannak Ya Salam competition. He also worked as the assistant director for the Adeni adaptation of “Hamlet.” Ezzat is passionate about highlighting independent poetic cinema and bringing Yemeni art to the global stage.
