‘My Green Homeland’ Art Exhibition in the framework of SABBART

My Green Homeland by Jaroslava Bičovská – in the framework of SABBART by EUNIC Egypt.

SABBART, a blend of “Sabbar” (Arabic for “cactus”) and “Art,” explores how arts and culture can shape a more sustainable future. Through diverse artistic perspectives and cultural exchanges, we aim to inspire reflection and dialogue for a more eco-social world. Hosted by the EUNIC Cluster Egypt, SABBART will run from May 7th to June 12th at various venues in Cairo.

Jaroslava Bičovská’s paintings, oscillating between realism and abstraction, bring her dream world to paper. Her technique is specific in that she carves the motif into the paper and only then reaches for pencil and paint. Her work, inspired by the Czech homeland, reminds us of the importance of the connection between people and nature, especially in today’s hectic pace of life.
Immerse yourself in her dreamscapes, where reality and imagination intertwine. This exhibition is part of the SABBART project, and is displayed outside on the walls of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Cairo for the public and art enthusiasts to enjoy.

A b o u t the artist
Studied at the Václav Hollar Secondary School of Art in Prague in 1960–1964. She was unable to continue her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts for political reasons. Her independent artistic beginnings are connected with her designs for graphic design of books for the publishing house Vyšehrad. At the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, Bičovská presented herself as a distinctive artist. The post-revolutionary years brought her the opportunity to present her free work in public, where she finally received the recognition she deserved. In 1990, she and her husband founded Dar Ibn Rushd, a publishing house dedicated to publications from the Arab world and have published more than 300 books since. Currently she lives and works in Brandýs nad Labem, Czechia

معرض ياروسلافا بيتشوفسكا بعنوان “موطني الأخضر”
تتسم لوحات ياروسلافا بيتشوفسكا، التى تتراوح بين الواقعية والتجريد، بأنها تنقل عالم الأحلام الي الورق. أسلوبها مميز حيث تنقش الزخرفة على الورق ومن ثم تلجأ إلى القلم والألوان. يذكرنا عملها المستوحى من وطنها التشيكي بأهمية العلاقة بين البشر والطبيعة، خاصة في الآونة الأخيرة وسط وتيرة الحياة الصاخبة.
انغمس فى عالم الأحلام الخاص بها حيث يتداخل الواقع والخيال. هذا المعرض جزء من مشروع سابارت، ويعرض حاليا على جدران سفارة جمهورية التشيك بالقاهرة ليستمتع به الجمهور وعشاق الفن.

عن ياروسلافا:

ترتبط بداياتها الفنية المستقلة بتصميماتها للتصميم الجرافيكي للكتب لدار النشر Vyšehrad. في مطلع الستينيات والسبعينيات، قدمت نفسها كفنانة مميزة. أتاحت لها سنوات ما بعد الثورة فرصة عرض أعمالها المجانية أمام الجمهور، حيث حصلت أخيرًا على التقدير الذي تستحقه. وفي عام 1990، أسست هي وزوجها دار ابن رشد، وهي دار نشر متخصصة للمطبوعات من العالم العربي، ونشرت منذ ذلك الحين أكثر من 300 كتاب. تعيش حاليًا وتعمل في التشيك
