Three Verses of Solitude

Three Verses of Solitude is an immersive performance that contemplates solitude as both a personal refuge and a shared condition, especially during war. Inspired by the contemplative stillness of the Rothko Chapel, the work offers a gentle space for reflection, connection, and quiet renewal.
It traces the emotional spectrum from solitude to loneliness, carrying echoes of pandemic confinement and the intimate quiet of early motherhood. Through this lens, the work invites viewers to pause and notice the delicate gestures found in quiet moments together; to find warmth in distance and beauty in the act of listening.
It meditates on solitude not as absence, but as possibility: a space for imagination and transformation; solitude as a creative practice of boldness and joy. In stillness, new worlds can be envisioned; in silence, something vibrant can emerge.
It asks: In the wake of loss, how can we be alone, together?

Theater Is A Must Festival tenth edition “Return” 6-17 November 2026
This is the tenth edition of the Theater Is A Must Festival under the theme “Return”. We revisit concepts, art forms, influential moments in our contemporary political and social history, and myths. Through our artistic choices, we will create a dramaturgical line of concepts and issues that we would like our contemporary theater to address in the 21st century. Through Egyptian, Arab and European contemporary theater performances, we will organize a contemporary theatrical experience that includes the desire to return, pause and reflect on defining moments, pausing to deconstruct these contexts through theater that questions the past and engages with our recent history. We celebrate atypical and non-traditional theatrical forms and continue to imagine our vision of a theater that transcends pity, fear and catharsis.

ثلاث آيات في الوحدة هو عرضٌ أدائيٌّ يتأمّلُ وجوهَ الوحدة، بوصفِها مساحةً نلجأُ إليها لأنفُسِنا، وحالةً نعيشُها معًا، خصوصًا في زمنِ الحرب. يستحضِرُ العملُ سكونَ فضاءِ “روثكو تشابل”، ليخلُقَ مكانًا دافئًا للتأمّلِ، وللسكينةِ، ولتواصُلٍ صامتٍ يُشبِهُ الصلواتِ الداخليّة.
يتردّدُ صدى التّجاربِ الّتي عبَرْناها: انغلاقُ الجائحةِ، ودفءُ الأُمومةِ الأُولَى، وصمتُ اللّحظاتِ الّتي تُخفي في طيّاتِها ما لا يُقال. يَدعونا العَرضُ إلى الإصغاءِ لِما وراءَ الكلماتِ، وإلى التقاطِ الحركاتِ الصّغيرةِ الّتي تنبضُ في الفَراغِ، وإلى العُثورِ على دفءٍ في البُعدِ، وعلى جمالٍ في مجرّدِ الإصغاء.
العُزلةُ هنا ليست غيابًا، بل إمكانيّةً ومِساحةً للخيالِ والتَّحوّل؛ ممارسةً إبداعيّةً تنبضُ بالجُرأةِ والفَرَح. ففي السُّكونِ يمكنُ تخيُّلُ عوالِمَ جديدةٍ، وفي الصَّمتِ يُولَدُ ما هو حيٌّ من جديد.
يَسألُ العملُ: في ظِلِّ الفَقدِ، كيف يمكنُ أن نكونَ وحدَنا… معًا؟

هذه النسخة هي العاشرة من مهرجان لازم مسرح تحت عنوان عودة. نعود لزيارة مفاهيم وأشكال فنية ولحظات مؤثرة في تاريخنا السياسي والاجتماعي المعاصر وأساطير. من خلال اختياراتنا الفنية سوف نصنع خطأ دراماتورجيا للمفاهيم والقضايا التي نرغب أن يعالجها مسرحنا المعاصر في القرن ٢١. نحاول أن نعود لأدوار وتساؤلات المسرح الأولى وأثره في حياة الناس، من خلال عروض مسرحية مصرية وعربية وأوروبية سوف ننظم تجربة تلقي مسرحي معاصرة تنطوي على الرغبة في العودة و التوقف والتأمل في أوقات فارقة، نتوقف لنفكك هذه السياقات من خلال مسرح يطرح الأسئلة على الماضي ويشتبك مع تاريخنا القريب. نحتفي بالأشكال المسرحية غير النمطية وغير التقليدية ونستمر في رسم رؤيتنا لمسرح يتجاوز مشاعر الشفقة والخوف والتطهر.
