Geografia e Mistero
Il progetto espositivo, nato dopo un lavoro di ricerca svolto in Italia e presso la Bibliotheca Alexandrina, mette in dialogo due protagonisti della fotografia italiana contemporanea, Marina Ballo Charmet e Stefano Cagol, con la geografia fisica ma anche le tracce del passato e le scoperte archeologiche che intrecciano passato e futuro del Mediterraneo. Questo all’interno di una grande istituzione museale, nata nel 1891 grazie all’egittologo italiano Giuseppe Botti.Costruita su questo contesto storico unico, la mostra trasforma la fotografia in un ponte che attraversa il tempo, connettendo questioni storiche a dinamiche ambientali e climatiche, e affermando il ruolo dell’arte come strumento di comunicazione tra passato, presente e futuro.
La mostra è curata da Alessandro Castiglioni ed è realizzata grazie al sostegno della Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea del Ministero Italiano della Cultura, nell’ambito dell’Avviso pubblico per la promozione della fotografia contemporanea italiana all’estero, e vede la collaborazione del Consolato Onorario d’Italia ad Alessandria d’Egitto, ed espone opere fotografiche di due importanti protagonisti della scena artistica contemporanea italiana: Marina Ballo Charmet e Stefano Cagol.
Aperta al pubblico dal 1° al 20 settembre 2025 presso il Museo Greco-Romano.

الجغرافيا والغموض
بعد مرحلة بحثية مكثفة أُجريت في إيطاليا وفي مكتبة الإسكندرية، يضع المعرض الفنانين في حوار مفتوح مع الجغرافيا الطبيعية، وآثار الماضي، والاكتشافات الأثرية التي تربط تاريخ البحر الأبيض المتوسط بمستقبله. ويُقام هذا الحدث الفني في مؤسسة متحفية كبرى أسسها عالم المصريات الإيطالي جوزيبي بوتي عام ١٨٩١.
وينطلق المعرض من هذا الطابع التاريخي الفريد ليحوّل التصوير الفوتوغرافي إلى جسر يعبر الزمن، رابطًا بين القضايا التاريخية والديناميات البيئية والمناخية، وليؤكد على مكانة الفن كأداة للتواصل بين الماضي والحاضر والمستقبل.
ويأتي هذا المعرض في إطار التعاون الثقافي بين مصر وإيطاليا، ويعكس رؤية مشتركة لتعزيز الحوار الفني المتوسطي وتسليط الضوء على دور الإسكندرية بوصفها مدينة محورية في التاريخ والثقافة العالمية.
يُقام المعرض بدعم من الإدارة العامة للإبداع المعاصر في وزارة الثقافة الإيطالية، ومن تنسيق أليساندرو كاستيغليوني، ويضم الأعمال الفوتوغرافية للفنانين الإيطاليين البارزين مارينا بالو شارميت وستيفانو كاجول.

Geography and Mystery
Following an extensive research phase conducted in Italy and at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the exhibition places the two artists in an open dialogue with natural geography, ancient heritage, and archaeological discoveries that link the history of the Mediterranean to its future. The event is hosted in a major museum institution founded by Italian Egyptologist Giuseppe Botti in 1891.
Building on this unique historical context, the exhibition transforms photography into a bridge across time, connecting historical issues with environmental and climatic dynamics, and affirming the role of art as a tool of communication between the past, present, and future.
The exhibition is curated by Alessandro Castiglioni and it’s held with the Directorate General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture, and in collaboration of the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Alexandria and It features photographic works by two leading Italian contemporary artists, Marina Ballo Charmet and Stefano Cagol.
